The meals we ate in Mexico City were just as sacred and amazing as the archological sites, just as satisfying and impressive as the art, and just as intense and breath taking as you would expect from the largest city in the world. From our first meal to our last meal, the food we ate was memorable. We discovered new tastes and textures. We had Chilaquiles, molletes, pastel de elote casero (I'm tearing up just thinking about it....), and Cuitlacoche. Holy mackeral! Yowza!! Glorioski!!! We did it. And then, we over did it. Our last meal in Mexico was perhaps the most delightful.....a taco stand where you walked in and within 30 seconds of pointing to the filling you wanted, you were a munchin. Then, after you were done with the first one, you pointed again.... Blam! Another taco..... Until you couldn't put one more thing in your mouth.
And the drinks!!!! Agua de Alfalfa, Pulque, Cafe de Olla.....
We even ate in the same restaurant as Pancho Villa. Sigh...... The best food we EVER ate in our lives. Bar none. Amen.
We dedicate this blog to the little abuelita who made the tortillas we had in Tepoztlan that went from her comal to our table, so hot, we couldn't touch them right away.....
