Three hour cruise

Picture this: Gilligan as played by Hal. Ginger as played by Helene. Skipper as played by Miguel. The sunset cruise......

We left our sweet little safe bus and went to the marina.... we got aboard the sea worthy Yate Fiesta Mazatlan. . .

We saw a huge cave.
We got hit with a huge snow storm....just kidding, its just a rock covered in bird poo.
We saw a rock covered with seals.
Boy were we ever happy to be together.
Northie started the tequila hiccups after 5 free shots of the mediocre stuff and Skyhorse was just so happy to not hurl from the choppy high seas.
We had a fun time as usual.

This is our most unusual holiday season. Ever.

We're loving it.

Happy New Moon

Well, this is our favorite hang out these days - the Pacific Ocean. We went out tonight to watch the sunset and to do a little water blessing. We hung out with Kate and Matt for four fun days. If all went well, they should be back in Guadalajara by now getting ready to fly back to the land of Yinze. Our friend Julia is highlighted in one of the photos. Guess which one.

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays everyone.

Culiacan - don't want to go back there

I was just thinking about our trip through Culiacan, the day after our Steven King night. We were planning on stopping in Los Mochis but the park there was closed. We continued on a few hours to the next likely stop, Culiacan. We pulled into town and got hit with a blast of rush hour traffic. Except it wasn't rush hour. Turns out Culiacan is the capital of the state plus, it's not a town, it's a big city. We had no idea where we were or how to get to our overnight site. There wasn't even a place to pull over.

Finally, I found a parking lot and pulled in. Went into the store and I guess I looked pretty pitiful because one of the workers said, "Follow me", went out, got into his truck, and drove for 45 minutes through the downtown area with us following, people on cell phones cutting in, not caring how big the bus was, like being back in New York. Yikes. Finally, we got to our spot and he drove off, after us thanking him for saving our lives. We'd still be driving around Culiacan if not for him.

The next morning we were up way early and beat it south and avoided the big traffic. Whew!

Our big shopping day in Mazatlan

Today, we got on the bus outside our home and went downtown to restock the pantry. We hit the mercado (huge market with everything you can imagine - from an entire cow carcass to incense) and had tortilla soup at the ocean walkway - no kidding, the ocean is right there! and made it home hot and sweaty, but safe and sound. Kate and Matt arrive tomorrow and we will meet them at their hotel after sunset. And finally, a photo of the photographer. He's so dreamy.....

Pictures from Mazatlan

Some photos from yesterday.

Mazatlan

Well, here we are in Mazatlan. If you look at this map you'll see Las Jaibas Trailer Park in the north end of town. We drove around and looked at many of the places to park and this was by far the best. Then we ran into a few of our traveling buddies from other stops so it feels like home here.

The beach is across the street and I think we'll be here for two weeks. It feels good to get off the road. Kate and Matt will be here in a few days.

There's been a few places on the way down where we had no services and used our self-contained solar power and water system. But this place has everything we need for plugging in.

Last night we took the bus into downtown Mazatlan. It's about a half hour. We walked around the plaza and the seawall and saw a Mariachi concert with a famous group. Then we hung out at the plaza where there were processions and music and lots of people having fun. We got home very late.

Corazon Gitano meets Stephen King

We pulled into this "RV park" for the night. We were the only ones there. Beautiful old trees and piles of construction supplies and heavy machinery. A nice old guy named Nacho and I negotiated, mostly in Spanish, for the payment. We left as soon as we could the next morning, but it was a quiet night.

Huatabampo!

Miles of beaches. We have GOT to come back to this place. There's a cute little park with plenty of space, right on the beach.

San Carlos

All over the place we've been running into Canadians. Northie is speaking a lot more French than I am Spanish. We've met some friends who we're planning on meeting up with again in Mazatlan.

Last May when we were in Puerto Penasco on vacation we met Julia on the beach in her RV with her 2 dogs and cat. We talked about meeting up again this winter, without making any specific plans. Guess who was getting out of her RV as we came back from the beach this afternoon? What a great reunion.

Leaving tomorrow morning early.

Hola Amigos!

So far, we have driven through snow and rain and a rightous full moon (at perigee) on the day we began our gypsy adventure. We are still transitioning from a New Mexico state of mind to a Mexico way of life. After our stop at the beach in Puerto Penasco, we headed West and now South as we make our way to the Tropic of Cancer. We will be resting our heads tonight in Hermosillo (check your maps) and head for the beach once again in the morning.

We are still tweeking things, but all of our hard work and planning is paying off big time. We are still best friends and are having a fun adventure. And we've only been at it a week.

Puerto Penasco

Well, here we are in Puerto Penasco. Picked up the bus and headed to the beach. We have been working hard to set up the bus for the trip. Looks like we'll be here for two days and then start heading south.

First Stop

We had a very nice stay in Truth or Consequences on our way out of New Mexico. Stayed overnight and left early.

Big thanks to our friends and family for your generosity, well wishes, and good prayers. Our hearts are full as we prepare to leave tomorrow morning.
